Dave Matthews Band Will Return This Summer


Dave Matthews band has announced their return in May this year,they said that after 20 years of consecutive success touring, Dave Matthews Band will be taking 2011 off.

"We feel lucky that our tours are a part of so many people’s lives, and wanted to give everyone as much notice as possible,"said Dave Matthews.

Dave Matthews Band to stage their own festival in 2011 and has said that the group will not be returning to the road for an extended stretch this coming year.


The band has announced, “2011 is our 20th anniversary as a band and we want to celebrate by playing music together. While we are still taking the year off from touring, we have decided to plan four multi-day, multi-artist music events that will take place this summer. We will be sending out save the date emails and announcing more information soon but we wanted to share the news with our fans first.”

Dave Matthews Band Brands Itself Wildly Successful

In terms of concert ticket sales,it is revealed that Dave Matthews Band are not the most successful musical performer on the planet,step aside,Lady Gaga.

According to Billboard Boxscore,between 2000 and 2009,the Dave Matthews Band sold over 11 million tickets to its concerts — more than any other band.

The Dave Matthews Band isn't exactly a brand name, certainly not in the same category as Bon Jovi, Lady Gaga, Paul McCartney, or other such performers who have great box office pull. In fact, DMB has sold only around 30 million records over twenty years — modest by superstar standards.

What DMB has done differently, though, is build a legitimate road band brand by touring incessantly.

According to Slate, the band had 62 dates in 50 North American cities playing to almost 1.3 million fans in 2010. That was more than any other musical artist in North America, and DMB also traveled to South America and Europe to boot. Since 1992, DMB has performed close to 1,700 shows.

Dave Matthews Band also look after its loyal fans, according to Slate: "It offers a high proportion of plum tickets to fan-club members and offers them tons of freebies and special deals online."
